A MarketWatch snapshot of global benchmarks showed broad declines to end the week, with Japan posting one of the largest moves.

In MarketWatch’s world markets tables, the Nikkei 225 (NIK) was shown at 53,372.53, down 1,866.87 points, or 3.38%. Other Asia benchmarks listed were also lower, including the Hang Seng (HSI), down 0.88%, and the Shanghai Composite (SHCOMP), down 1.24%. India’s BSE Sensex (ticker “1” on MarketWatch) was shown up 0.44%.

European markets were similarly weaker in the same MarketWatch readout:

• CAC 40 (PX1): -1.82%

• FTSE 100 (UKX): -1.44%

• FTSE MIB (I945): -1.97%

In the U.S., MarketWatch listed the S&P 500 down 1.51% and the Nasdaq Composite down 2.01% on the day.

With a risk‑off tone apparent across regions, investors will be watching whether the next week brings stabilization in equities, and whether interest rates, commodities, and volatility indicators continue to reflect heightened uncertainty.
